Hey Scotty! Big fan! I have a Chevy Colorado with the 2.8L Duramax, 6 speed automatic. It shifts very smoothly, but when I'm in the 6th gear, it will not downshift unless I give it some gas or do it manually. If I were to just let it glide in 6th gear with my foot off the pedal, it will not shift to 5th but relunctantly shift to 4th gear as it slows down. Why is this happening?

Scotty, I have a 1985 LTD crown Victoria. In the past when I had to get engine parts for the car I was told it was a police interceptor engine and they have always given me parts for that set up. When I looked up the years that they made the police interceptor cars I was dumbfounded to find that my cars VIN didn't match the information that indicated it to be one made with the police Interceptor setup. the engine according to the title is a 302. So how can I tell for sure what type do I have? or are the " Interceptor parts" better in the long run? Thanks Joe Matter.

Hi Scotty I just moved to Houston (westbury neighborhood) I have a 65 mustang fastback. I have a classic auto air a/c setup and most likely have a Freon leak. The ac is out of my wheelhouse. Do you take new customers? Or would you have any recommendations for a shop to take it to?

Want to borrow it for an intro video?

What’s up Scotty. I’m in the auto detailing business and I am looking to get into getting a cargo van to do mobile detailing. I was looking into a Nissan NV200, Dodge Promaster city, or a Ford Transit. What cargo vans do you recommend? Preferably good on gas and reliability. Thanks!

Hi Scotty. My Dad wants to give me his 1975 corvette. It’s been on and off the road since I’ve been around. Lately it’s off the road (15 years in his garage without moving) it drove in there after a corvette specialist ran through it and gave it a clean bill of health. The car has 75k miles and isn’t cosmetically in the greatest shape. He would let it go but only if it’s trucked to this higher end shop for new hoses, carb, fluids and tires. The owner told him between 3-4K to get the car rolling again. Is it worth the investment. I’m not the most handy but I know my way around enough to get it going on my own but he doesn’t want to give away a project! it has some cracked paint. Faded paint. It’ll never be flawless which I kind of like. I’m gonna drive it! I see them with a list of receipts for around $10-$12 dollars. Is this worth my time? I would keep it forever but are they reliable enough to last for awhile only being driven a few thousand miles a year?

Hey soctty my dad has a 97 jeep grand cherokee Laredo and if my dad drive his car often it will not want to start up with out pressing on the gas pedal multiple times or wont start up for a few days and when he drives the car it spits and sputters then sometimes die on him driving down the road or at a red light. And the strange part is it doesn't bring up any coverage at all. And the battery is brand new and the starters brand new the problem wont go away. Any idea to what the cause might be?

Good morning Scotty I have a 95 f150 with the 300 inline six with an m50d 5 speed transmission, I did a cab swap about 10 months ago left it parked for 6 months while i was on deployment and when I came back everything was working fine until about 2 days later my windshield wipers would try and work you'd hear the relay work and the wipers would move a little bit, then my high beam light would come on and so would both turn signal lights. Any power I apply to the heat would make the wipers extend fully but I would have to play with the switch to make them fully seat to where they should be. I replaced everything from the relay the turn signal stock and the wiper motor and it hasn't fix anything. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you Scotty!

Scotty,

I have had trouble with my RPM shuttering/ jumping slightly when I'm around 35-50MPH, when it is in last gear. The truck has 140,000 miles and I can't seem to find a mechanic to fix or pinpoint the problem. Below is a list of things that have been done that didn't work.

  • Mass Air flow sensor cleaned.
  • Throttle positioning sensor changed / throttle body cleaned.
  • Foot pedal replaced.

Recently, a mechanic told me I probably need to do a DOD delete...He seems to have more knowledge than the other I have been to. Is this worth trying? Do you have any suggestions? Also, I've had people tell me it could be in the torque converter, but transmission specialist said it isn't throwing any codes.. I'm desperate for answers.. Lastly, my truck drinks 5W-30 oil.. should i add lucas stbalizer

Scotty, I have a 2003 Ford Ranger 2.3... I was driving out of a stop light, went to shift from 3rd to 4th gear, and the clutch wouldn't move. I checked the master, slave, and lines for leaks and didn't find anything. What should I check next, and what tests should I do? I could only find your videos on vehicles with a weak clutch not one that froze while engaged!! Appreciate your work. Trent

Hi Scotty, I have a 2012 Lexus CT 200h with 80k miles and I noticed that when the car idles, the air conditioning blows hot air. I looked under the hood and the electric fans in the very front of the car don't spin when the car is idling. Can I fix it myself? Is it going to damage the car to drive without the fans working? I live in southern California so it is very hot outside during the day.

Hi Scotty,

I own an Audi TT Mk1 (year 2000). My mechanic is saying that I don't need to keep the plastic under engine shield because it generally keeps more heat in the engine bay, oil gets to a higher temperature and shortens the engine's life. What's your opinion please, should the underneath plastic shield be on or off? Will I have problems without it?

Thank you.

Hey Scotty, I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4l that has a consistent engine ping when accelerating from about 1600RPM. No codes are being thrown and none pending. The IGN timing ADV varies from 4.0 to 11.0 degrees as the car idles around 900RPM in neutral.; ST FTRM1 is -1.6% and LT 5.5%; w/IGN ADV varying from 5.0-7.0 ; Then ST -2.3% and LT 5.5% @ 880RPM IGN ADV 8.0; At 1700RPM ST FTRM1 is 1.6% and LT FTRM1 is 7.0% and dropping; IGN ADV @ 15.0. I have seen some saying bad knock sensor but shouldn't it throw some type of code with it? Another issue (same vehicle) is the transmission when allowing it to downshift from 3rd to 2nd, while accelerating it will kick, but if I punch it, a normal downshift occurs. Possibly bypassing 2nd gear? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks and Love your videos! Keep them coming.
