Scotty shows how modern gasoline breaks down quicky and you don't want it sitting inside you car's gas tank all that long. Learn what to do if you are storing a car to keep the gasoline from breaking down and clogging up the fuel system.
I use Stabil...2000 MaximaSE, Honda generator........works well thank you Scotty
realize the E10 has additive that prevent the ethanol inside to cause problems. Most things are myths these days by guys who are not gasoline engineers
Scotty, everybody says NEVER use E10 in an old car with a carburetor. They say the alcohol will turn the rubber fuel lines to mush, eat the seals out of the carburetor, corrode the aluminum float bowel, the brass bits like the jets and float valve seat and dislodge any gunk in the fuel system and clog the ports and jets up.
I'm not an advocate for ethanol but I've been using E10 in all of my old cars for years without any problems. This fuel has never done any damage to the fuel system that people says it does. I also can't find any evidence that 100% gas get's any better fuel economy than E10.
I can see if water contaminates the fuel could do damage to these parts. In fact one time I was using 100% gasoline in my riding mower and forgot to top the tank off in the fall and by spring, water had condensed in the fuel tank and blinded the fuel filter over and no gasoline would pass through it. So what I thought I was trying to avoid happening by using 100% gasoline happened to me anyway!
What's your take on this?
