We are trying to solve a problem that doesn't really exist - gas is still plentiful and cheap. If there is a shortage a solution will be found. Realize Germans in WWII made gas out of practically anything.

Remember, the Mirai for Fuel Cell cars is what the Prius was for hybrids 17 years ago. It's also the size of a Camry.

The amount of money being spent on alternative fuels , oil prices and the Saudi government trying to sell a piece of their oil company , tells me this phenomenon is or is hoped to be for real . If the government built out the hydrogen infrastructure and offered free fill ups , would it get people to buy a 60 thousand dollar mini car ? Personally I would not be buying any expensive gasoline powered vehicles at this time . TheReaper!

Heck, Consumer Reports bought one a year ago and haven't started testing it yet. There is in fact a hydrogen filling station 35 miles from the CR Test Track in Connecticut. First impressions were that the Mirai drives like a conventional car and that the only thing that comes out of the tailpipe is water vapor.

But where oh where will the hydrogen come from? It's not just sitting around, and to make it from water takes more energy than you get turning the hydrogen into electricity running the car. it would actually make more sense to just use an electric car running on electricity.For many years the US Air Force experimented with hydrogen fuel, and they eventually gave up.Plus, hydrogen is VERY explosive and a leak here and there, and BOOM
