When I do a cold start my trucks turn straight up to 1000 rpm and goes to 900 and stays there until I drive it for a while. However on the second or if I turn it on for more then two times the trucks sounds different. It turns on but has like a weak start up as it goes up to 1500 rpm and just drops like a rollercoaster to 500-600 and has a weird sound not the engine but like electrical. There's a ticking noice and distributer has never been changed since factory nor the ignition coil. Only the spark plugs and wires have been rountinly done, the truck is almost at 250000. What could be the problem of the weak start up after the 3rd or more start up? I can send a video if that helps?

Well i know that the starter has not been changed as it was my dads. Because I just feel like I should do a overhaul of the distributor cap and spark plugs and ignition coil and starter.

that fast ticking sound sounds like the starter may be dragging

send a video if you wish, it always helps . BUT find the ticking noise and fix that first, could be ignition shorting out, OR could be internal damage like broken lifters
