URGENT HELP: if the Car Timing belt is broken and water pump is gone, how can my car engine is starting / running perfectly?
My car 16 year old Skoda Ocatvia (run only 100K kms) recently had engine overheat when I was driving at 180km/hr on a german Autobahn. I quickly stopped car and noticed that lot of coolent has been leaked out, so I topped it with Water.
But then When consulted local Skoda dealership, he suggested that, Car's Timing belt and cooling pump has broken and Car dealer is asking whopping 1000 Euros to fix it. on top of that, he said, engine head gasket could have gone, and that would cost extra.
PROBLEM is My car's engine is running like a charm, firing correctly and exhaust is working fine. It is just that, engine gets overheated. but when engine is over heated, Radiator fan is not switching ON.
I am not sure, if the Car Timing belt is broken and water pump is gone, how can my car engine is starting / running perfectly? I suspect this as a typical Can insurance scam? Can you pl advice on how true the dealer could be?
I have came across your wonderful and simple video on car overheating. and that is what prompted me to ask this question to you.
pl help!!!

Hi Scotty, Yes I had already seen the video. But in my engine starts normally but Radiator Fan doesn't start. I told workshop guy that he should replace thermostat, but he says Cooling pump & Timing belt is broken. Can that be true?
