Transmission Oil Change

2014 Chevy Sonic tranny flush without a dipstick

Good evening. I have a 14 Sonic with 70k miles on it. I want to change the transmission fluid but this car doesn't have a transmission dispstick. It does have a plastic cap that you can unscrew on the top and a drain bolt on the bottom of the transmission. It also has a drain bolt on the side to measure the oil. But i dont want to deal with that side bolt. My logic is to drain the fluid, measure the amount that came out, and replace same amount with new fluid. Then drive the car a few miles then repeat the drainage process to try get as much old fluid out. Is that acceptable or in this cars is needed to measure by the side drain bolt? Thanks!
