Tire replacement question

Had to put a plug in my front left tire on a 2005 Prius pulled over within a within a half a mile because I was hearing funny noises and checked it out the tire put a donut on and patch it up with a plug but the tire shop said that it was too badly damaged to do anyting but it holds are just fine but they show me the tire on the inside and some of the belt was showing but I plugged it up anyways and the car holds are just fine without a problem main question is should I use the warranty check from the manufacturer to buy a new tire or just keep on using the one I have now because the tire shop lied and said it wasn't under warranty and I'm getting a warranty check for a new tire and ironically the tire shop is going to give me a discount of price pretty much exactly with the warranty check was going to be for lying cheating bastard's

and before I forget I put that plug tire on the back of the Prius because it's less weight due to the engine and the left side of the car which I guess it's called The energy electric motor
