Scotty, I have a 2016 half ton Silverado with the 5.3 and 6 speed automatic. I bought the truck with 38,000 I’m pretty particular about mechanics of a vehicle I’m buying especially one I’m paying so much money for. I test drive the truck everything sounded fine shifted great no noises I checked the oil, trans fluid everything looked and felt right about my decision to purchase what I thought was going to be the truck that lasted me for years, so I had stopped at the dealership close to closing time drove it blah blah and said I’ll take it they said great blah blah come back in the morning we will get you set up. Long story short I got the truck drove it I’d say about 1,000 miles not had it for a week and transmission was already slipping, I live in a fairly hilly slight grade environment and this truck wouldn’t hold overdrive always gear hunting wouldn’t hold v4 and I was very sick about it. (truck drove fine shifted great day before at operating temp) took it back still had factory warranty they said it would be fixed. Sat in the dealership from 8am to 7pm before they would give me a loaner vehicle and tell me what was actually wrong with the truck. Finally walk through the door tell me it needs a torque convert, TCM, valve body and a fluid flush I said okay bc it was still under warranty and wasn’t my problem no out of pocket. I’d say a week went by they call say your truck is done you can come pick it up I have a whole list “bill” type thing saying what they “fixed” but that’s just black and white anyone can write anything in paper. The truck has 46,000 miles on it now and still doing the same thing shifts hard has a rotating clicking noise by the bell housing and still doing the same thing as it did before and maybe worse since I took it in. I called them made an appointment took it back in said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. It’s driving me nuts and I’m the type if I can do it by myself and know what was done to it then I’m going to. Any option? Thoughts? Advice? I changed spark plugs thought it was the engine and the afr off changed air filter cleaned throttle body put a Mass air flow sensor on it a absolute manifold pressure sensor on it and ran some PEA fuel treatment through it and still no luck I’m at a loss with it and it’s my only transport. Just reaching out trying to figure this out thanks for making theses videos and doing what you do you’ve help me a lot on this truck in knowing what to look for and also with previous truck keep doing what your doing it’s awesome.

Did you say "RAM"? That's what I'd tell the DEALER-- "Ram it." Fix it or give me my money back. I'd take that $$$, buy 2015 or OLDER Tacoma. Why you'd go from GM crumminess to Dodge-- kooky jump frying pan into fire. In my opinion, the trucks Ford makes nowadays are no better than the Chevy's. I can't speak for the reliability of the Toyota's. But my uncle had a 2014 Ford F-150 Lariat with the 3.5 EcoBoost. He bought it with 75,000 miles and installed a cold air intake and an exhaust on it. At 93,000 miles the head gaskets blew, at 104,000 miles the internal water pump broke.

I have a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 with the LBZ Duramax. It's had no issues whatsoever. I also have a Chevrolet Express 3500 with the LQ4 6.0L again no issues whatsoever.

If i were you, i'd stick with ol' reliable tried and true engines. Not the new fancy ones with cylinder deactivation and all the new fuel economy crap.

If I were you, I'd get a decent used truck with an Chevy LS or a Ford Modular. But stay away from the 3 valve Triton, those have some serious issues.

The best of luck to you and your endeavors,

Conrad

you are finding the truth--GM makes crap these days. And you had warranty "work" done, no saying what they actually did, maybe just changed the fluid. GM will probably not help you at all, me, I'd just get rid of it and get a ford or toyota truck
