Scotty,

I have a 1995 Chevrolet K2500 4x4 Pickup truck. I bought it used, and the prior owner converted it to a manual transmission when he replaced the automatic one which had failed.

He also put a 3 inch suspension lift and a 3 inch body lift on the vehicle. I know your view point on lifting trucks... So let's just jump right past that. I've heard, I know you want to say it, but I'm telling you that your just rehashing information.

My situation is my tires which are very aggressive off road tires. Size 33 (also put on by the previous owner). Have worn down and need replacement.

This truck currently only gets 10mpg. I know the tires have alot to do with it.

My question is how much fuel mileage will save by going down a couple sizes on the tires and going with a less aggressive tread pattern, since I don't go off road with the vehicle.

Thanks
Gilligan

Thanks, I think I'll still go with a less aggressive tread pattern to cut down on some of the road noise.

That's very possible now that I think about it

only a tiny amount of better gas mileage, it's just that the readings will change on the speedo from tire size giving false gas economy readings. You probably think you are getting worse mileage than you are
