Scotty & Community, Thanks for your expertise first. I have a 2009 Hyundai Sonata, currently 149000 miles. About 10000 miles ago, car ran out of gas with fuel needle stuck at half (we didn't know it was stuck). Towed to local mechanic, called and said tank empty, fuel pump burnt out from trying to restart car so many times. Fuel pump assembly changed (includes sending unit) per mechanic. From the time I drove away, fuel needle continues to give problems such as not dropping until @ 130 miles into a tank of gas, will sometimes read higher or go up as I drive. Gauge will again appear to read right at 200ish miles and then start reading high again or just get stuck and not drop again until 300ish miles (rinse and repeat). Been going totally on mileage for last year but would like it resolved as the car runs fine! I checked all electrical connections at pump and they appear fine but still used electrical contact cleaner on them but no help. Mechanic says he'll have to look at it again. Suggestions at cause and solution? Thank you again for the help!
