Hey Scotty, I was wondering, what do you think of the eco boost mustang convertible? Do you think the Coupé is better? Do you think the premium is better? Do you think the GT is the engine to get? Is the eco bosst a good daily driver, or better for the weekend? Or do you think just get the GT? What are your thoughts on this? Thanks and have a nice day. I watch all your videos and really appreciate all the honest info you put out there for everyone.

Hey scotty. I have an 08 Yaris Hatch 4 spd auto 1.5 liter with 193000 miles. When i start it there seems to be some weird whining noise. And it gets louder and more high pitched when you accelerate. Any ideads of what this problem could be? Thanks...

Hi Scotty.
I've recently purchased Honda Civic 2012 9th gen 1.8l 5sp auto transmission in Australia with 110000 km. It is clear that 1.8l engines are very reliable. But what about honda 5sp auto transmissions of 2012 civics? How many km I can expect out of it?
thank you

Hey Scotty!

Love your videos!

I have a 1999 GMC Yukon 2 wheel drive with about 216,000 miles. I have a check engine light for a p0420 inefficient catalytic converter. I hooked up my scan tool and I can see that the bank 1 down stream O2 sensor appears to be working. I suspect that there is a small exhaust leak coming from the flange that connects the cat to the exhaust pipe. My question is can an exhaust leak before the down stream o2 sensor cause a cat inefficiency code? I have had this truck for about 6 years and this is the first time that it ever tripped that code. I am not getting a cat code on bank 2.

Thanks

Good day Scotty, i have a 2014 Corolla that comes with a 7 speed Aisin CVT transmission and a 1.6 1ZR-FE Dual VVT-i engine. Recently after replacing the engine oil at 80,000km on the odo, i have been hearing the dreaded cold startup cam gear rattle. Given your deep competency in Toyotas, what are your recommendations?
Do you suppose i should change both the intake and exhaust cam gears?

Scotty... love your Youtube videos! I've got a 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid with 190,000 miles and CVT transmission. I'm getting an unnerving vibration under heavy acceleration, like up a hill or freeway onramp. The axles were replaced a couple years ago and motor mounts 3-4 years ago, although the motor looks like it jumps around more than it should when switching from drive to reverse. I'm concerned it could be the CVT and don't want to sink any serious coin into this old gal. Thoughts?

Hi, Scotty .I have a 1995 toyota t100 v6 SR5 2wd, 138k miles. automatic. I have an issue that has me perplexed. It's in limp mode and wont let it pass 2.5-3k RPMS. In my own research I've changed the catalytic converter and the O2 sensors. The O2 sensors were the only code I could pull. I also read it could be a crankshaft positioning sensor.

Hey Scotty! I got a Mustang II 1976 automatic transmission with a 2.3L I-4 engine with 16,000 miles no scratches nor rust on the car since the owner only drove it to go to the grocery store. I was wondering if there was another engine I could replace it with that adds more power since I love the Mustang II.

Scotty, I'm looking to replace my front brake pads on my 2016 Toyota Camry LE with 61,000 miles. I know you recommend the Akebono brakes if they start squealing, however, would the Toyota brand be just as good? Or would you still recommend Akebono over Toyota brake pads? Thanks.

Hey Scotty - William from Virginia here! Love your channel and wished I lived in Texas, I'd bring my cars to you! I have a 2013 Diesel GMC 2500 LT and it just started making a noise I cannot explain - it's not grinding or squealing but something in between. It's a noise that occurs whenever you turn the steering wheel or push the brakes - noise is there whether moving or not which is how I noticed it by idling at a light. The steering and brake fluid levels are fine, there are no leaks. Performance does not seem to be reduced at this time. I'm traveling across country pulling a 5th wheel in a couple weeks. Thanks for any advise!

I have a 2014 Ford F-150 with 80,000 miles and a twin turbo v6 ecoboost engine.

It has a minor Oil leak on the front passenger side of the engine bay. Mechanic says that the passenger side turbo is leaking and that it needs to be replaced costing $1300. He didn't say anything major was wrong with it though. What would you suggest I do?

I think I might try the AT-205 reseal you always talk about in the engine oil to see if it might just be a gasket problem but let me know if thats a horrible idea or if you would do something else.

If nothing works I might just go with what the mechanic says a replace the turbo for $1300

Hey Scotty I have 2015 Nissan Sentra 38k miles, I’m getting a creaking noise from the rear when I brake hard, my brake pedal is pulsating too when it happens. I checked my rubber bushings, could it be the drums?? Need help it’s starting to creak as well when I press on the brake to shift gears.

My 1990 Bonneville with 312K has a small issue. After driving for a while and when I'm at stops my oil pressure gauge drops pretty low but shoots back up when I accelerate. It checked at 72PSI with a mechanical gauge on a cold start so that was wrong immediately. Can I just assume the oil pressure switch is going bad?

Hi Scotty I have been a fan for a while and have decided with the whole insanity going on I want to shift careers. I was a long haul truck driver for a while now and with my carrier I just ain't happy. I decided fuck it I don't feel like driving all over the country.

Now I have always liked cars and trucks working on them and figuring out what I can do to make them better. So I looked around where I live and spoke to a few mechanics, but they aren't taking apprentices right now. When i stopped by my Ford dealer they told me they take all their new mechanics through the Ford Asset program and explained it is working with a college so you graduate with a associate's in auto tech and a bunch of fancy certifications. Well i wanted to know if it sounds like a good deal since where i live in the rust belt my tuition gets covered and i buy my tools so no loaner tools and I'll always have them

Dear Scotty,

I bought a used 2000 RX 300 with 86400 miles. What power steering fluid do I need? Is it true I put transmission fluid in the power steering system. Any thing else I should watch for? Also the rear struts make noise. What brand is best or OEM? Where should I look for them? Can I replace the back 2 or do I need to replace all 4?

Love your videos.

Hello Scotty hope your doing well. May I ask if its bad to drive a car with old or worn shocks? I'm still the owner of a 2001 Honda Civic LX 5 Speed and you can feel every bump and hump on the road. Going over humps causes the front of the car to bounce. I'm willing to get ahold of new shocks for the front once I get enough money since the car is pretty much fixed up so is the transmission since it doesn't go in neutral on its own all the focus is towards new shocks but I was just curious as to if its a bad idea to drive with old or worn ones for long time

Scotty, I'm looking at getting a first car to share with my brother and need AWD. We're looking at getting a used Honda SUV, used Acura MDX or RDX, used Toyota SUV (RAV4 or highlander), or used Lexus SUV with less than 30k miles for under $35,000. Which of these would be the best option and what problems do they have as they age? I know Honda has weak transmissions and oil dilution problems. What are the good engines that Honda makes? It does snow in the winter here. I’ve been watching your videos for a few years huge fan I’ve learned a lot. Are you still going to have your app due to COVID-19?
Thanks stay safe

Hello Scotty,

I have watched all your videos for the past year. You give great advice and and I truly enjoy watching them.

I had some gas cans with old, apparantly bad gas, that possibly had water in them. I put about 7 gallons of it into my wife's 2012 Toyota Highlander V6 with 125,000 miles. It ran fine for a short while and then the check engine light came on momentarily when the engine stuttered. We restarted the car and it ran fine for a couple days. Then I added some Techron fuel injector cleaner and added about 7 gallons of fresh fuel. Now the engine won't start. I've tried to siphon the gas out (with the siphon linked below), but was only able to get 1 gallon out.  I'm hoping I don't need to drop an almost full gas tank. I also can't find any information online if the fuel tank has access through the floorboard of the car. Please help. Thank you in advance.

Hi Scotty. I have a 2013 dodge avenger SE. A couple weeks ago my radiator hose busted & I had it replaced. Then about a week ago my temperature gauge started going up unless I would turn on my heater then it would go back to normal. But i can't drive with my heater on all the time, it's too hot. So I had someone look at it & they suggested I need to change my coolant temperature sensor. So I did. But now it doesn't take but 20 to 30 mins & my temperature gauge goes up with or without the heater on. What do you think it might be??

I'm thinking of getting a 2010-2012 Lexus IS convertible as a daily driver (either the 250 or the 350). Do you know anything about those cars that says I shouldn't? Hi Scotty, looking for your opinion on getting a car. The main thing important for me is price and short term reliability at minimum. I wanted your opinion on a 2007 Acura TL Type S. It is sale by owner on craigslist. It is automatic transmission 2007 Acura TL Type S, Used, 134,000 miles

This is the description on the ad "134,000 miles, new tires, new alternator, new A/C compressor, new front struts, timing belt replaced at 100,000 miles, car looks and drives great". With these models, do you think they would give me problems in the short term? I mainly ask because I will be working as a medical resident with 70 hour work weeks and will need my car for work commute. So it would be difficult if I have to take my car to mechanic for repairs.

Hi Scotty! I have a 2002 Toyota Highlander with 252,000 miles. It has the 2.4 4 cylinder. Runs great, air is cold. However, when I first start the car in the morning, and drop it into reverse or drive, there is a rattling sounding like a loose heat shield or idler pulley. The sound goes away after 30 seconds or so. I checked the heat shields and the belt is worn but everything works (A/C, P/S water pump). Ideas? Live with it?

Scotty, i have 2015 Nissan Sentra 38k, i have a creaking noise coming from the rear passenger side. I have checked the brakes. I checked the rubber bushings all good there. I took it for a ride with my dad in the back seat so he can hear the sound as well but it didn’t make the creaking noise when I was braking. I then test drove it again but with my much younger brother in the back seat, it started creaking again when I braked. Could it be the change in weight in the back? Should I just put junk in the back and leave it there?

Hi Scotty, I have a 2003 Toyota Matrix XRS automatic with 210,000 miles. It overheated on me once a while back due to a stuck thermostat. Then I started to lose a bit of coolant every couple of days. I brought my car to Midas and asked them to check my head gasket because I suspected that I blew it. They said the head gasket was fine and all they did was replacing my water pump and thermostat. A couple of days later my car overheated, I brought the car back in and they said that the engine needed to be replaced. My question is: can you check the head gasket if the water pump and thermostat are failing? I suspect they were lying to me about the condition of my head gasket. I might have to sue them.

Hey Scotty, I hope you are doing well during this crisis I have 3 questions.
