Master Mechanic! Hey Scotty, me again.. I would appreciate your opinion on a '95 Honda Civic. It belongs to a friend of mine who asked for help. She said the AAA guy who towed her home said not to start the car as it would cause more damage as there was a terrible sound coming from the engine internals. She says she needs a new crankshaft, I asked why she thought that, then she said the AAA guy said it was the crankshaft bolt.. This was via FB messenger and I haven't gotten much more info from her other than she needs new trans axles and a new belt. I'm going to check the car out on Sunday to see what's going on, if in fact she needs a new crankshaft ( and bearings and gaskets and seals) wouldn't it just be easier to replace the motor altogether with one from Japan? Or junk it because of the trans axles and belt as well? I'm more than happy to do the work, I'm not charging her either, but I don't want her to spend more than the cost of another car. What do you think?
