My 1997 Avenger has 150,000 miles on it and withing the past 5 or 6 months the following has been happening with my car. First it is cranking longer before starting and then when it does start and starting to warm up it will stall or when in idle it has the tendency to stall. I changed the fuel filter thinking that might be the problem but that did not work. I then changed the TPS switch but I do not think that made a difference either.
Also, the temperature gauge started going up past halfway where it normally is so I decided to change the thermostat since it was still original. When I pulled the bottom hose off of the thermostat housing no antifreeze came out of the hose. I changed the thermostat and topped off the antifreeze and now the temperature gauge will not go up past halfway but the fans are kicking on more than usual. In fact, yesterday when I was pulling the car into the garage and I went around to the back of the car to the trunk I noticed some antifreeze on the garage floor.
No engine light is on so I cannot get the code read.
What possibly could be going on with my car now and how to I fix it?
