I'm thinking about becoming a mechanic. I've heard about "Universal Technical Institute", and how they offer good programs. Do you have any suggestions on how I can jump start a career in that direction? I don't have a ton of knowledge about cars, but they intrigue me a lot.
Im not entirely sure where to start. Would it be better to land a job at a dealership or at an independent mechanic shop?
Scotty advocates against attending technical school and going into debt over that. Instead, he advises getting OJT by working as a mechanic in situations where employers pay you to send you to school while you're working.
