I have in my possession a 2002 Hyundai Sonata LX (V6 2.7L) with 257,xxx miles on it with the original engine and transmission. It was relatively well taken care of by the first owner, however it was then passed down to his son who, for 4 years, basically just kept up with the oil changes as far as I know. I've been going full blown DIY mechanic with it for the past year or so and my list of upkeep is as follows:

• Spark plugs and wires (I hate plenums) • ALL brakes and rotors (Done proper) • Tie rod inners and outers • Ball joints • Alternator • Transmission fluid change (2x as it was bordering on super dirty and okay) • Coolant change • New hoses • Wheel bearing • Tires • Currently running Gumout High Mileage • And other misc. little things

And my near future maintenance thoughts are:

• Rack and pinion • Transmission filter

My questions are do you have any advice on reaching the tranny filter in this vehicle because I can't figure out the best method to get to it and do you think it'd be worth pursuing this repair and the other future repair and are there any other things you'd recommend I'd check out as far as preventive maintenance goes?

I'd really like to see if I can hit 400,000 with this thing. I live in Minnesota so, she's pretty rusty, but the engine still runs very smooth and transmission shifts just fine as long as I show it sympathy when I'm accelerating.

Thanks for your time in advance, look forward to hearing from you.
