I have a 95 honda civic manual tranny. What would cause my woodruff key to break and why would the woodruff keyway on the crank be stretched

The pulley and the keyway on the pulley are fine. Could dumping the clutch cause that to happen and can i just put a new woodruff key in or do i have to replace the crank

often the pulleys come apart on those, then wallow and break the key on the crank, see that a lot . Or, in the past, some fool just put it together poorly after doing a timing belt job
