I have 2016 Mini Cooper S with 24K miles and there is a thumping sound in the back when going over bumps, patched or uneven roads. Also noise is heard going into or from a driveway. My car is still under warranty and I drove with the tech 2 times within 10 days and the guy doesn't really hear anything abnormal but the sound is there for sure. I asked the tech to lift the car and check it out. He did and says nothing is loose or appears to be in need of a repair. I am leaning towards the rear strut mounts/rubber inserts being deformed. I don't think he would pull the rear strut to verify.

Here is the sound clip. Maybe someone can point me to the correct direction and what test I can do to show the tech.

I did the Scotty WD 40 test to isolate a noise on my front end. It was my lower control arm bushing. AT205 sprayed on it and now it does not creak. My car is 11 yrs old. Mini may be small. When Herr Doktor in the white coat fixes it, he comes to you vitz a big bill! BMW means Big Money Waster. At least it's under warranty. Neighbor had one. Big Money pit and he got rid of it. Fell apart by 60K. Try to fix the simplest things and you go broke. Same items in a Toyota is 1/4 the price. These Minis are not Mr.Bean's!
