I am replacing the struts in my Saturn Outlook, using Gabriel struts. Left side went off without a hitch but the right side.... The strut has a 9mm hex head that you put a socket on. Well, for some reason I couldn't get the main nut to meet the torque spec of 63 foot pound and after a few minutes of trying the 9mm hex stripped. Now I can neither loosen or tighten the nut, I even tried moving the bump stop down and grabbing the strut with vise grips wrapped with a shop towel right below the mount, no good, no movement of the nut, plus now there's scarring on the shaft obviously, so there goes that warranty. What do I do? Run it til it craps out and take my lumps later when I have to buy a new one?
