I am reaching out to you pertaining a problem I been having with my car for some time. I thought your recent video on alternators would have provided me with a solution, but unfortunately, it did not.

I have a 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe AWD (Used) and the car has stopped working 4 times on the road. During those times, the car showed bad alternator signs like windows rolling up slowly, dim lights, radio turning off, the speedometer stopped working, the car pushing/kicking and has difficulty when trying to accelerate and then eventually stops running altogether. Once it stops, we jump start it and it runs for a little while. For every jumpstart, the car lasts shorter til it completely won't start again. The car stopped on us at dangerous situations like on the interstate and out of state. We had it checked by several mechanics and they all said it was the alternator. We bought a Gold Durlast alternator from Autozone with a lifetime warranty and swapped the alternator every time - after this last time, they said they will no longer honor the warranty. After swapping the alternator the car runs well until the same problem occurs again. Just recently we swapped out the alternator 1 and a half month ago and the car died on us. It is quite strange for us to have to change the alternator for 4 times in a year and a half - I read online that alternators typically last for years.

We live in Alabama so we won't be able to bring our car to you, but I would truly appreciate and love your opinion on the problem of the car.

If the battery is bad, how come the car works for days/months with a new alternator?

Start from the beginning. Ask AutoZone for a free Load Test of 1/ Battery 2/ Alternator 3/ Starter. Also request an OBDII scan-- that may or may not throw any Fault Codes. You'd be better off finding a mechanic w/ Dealer-Level scan tool. Scotty frequently mentions problems w/ Hyundai quality (i.e., lack thereof). Without those Load Tests and deep OBDII scans, you're just guessing in the dark and throwing part$ at it.

My guess is it could be an electrical issue. did you have autozone test the battery as in scotty's videos a faulty battery could throw the whole system off because the battery and alternator work in conjunction with each other.
