Hey Scotty, I know you've addressed this before saying Scions are just Toyota's but I'm wondering if they're a "safe" purchase? I'm looking for a new cheap car like a Honda Civic but I've noticed Scions are cheap. Are they reliable or did I miss the memo on them being a waste of money?

Hey Scotty I have a 2013 Escape 2.0 AWD. I had a bad cylinder on 2. I had a cylinder 2 misfire. I had an engine with 50k installed. I still have a misfire on cylinder 2, turbo sensor a code, and the transmission is now shifting hard. Could this be a computer problem? Thanks.

Hey Scotty 2009 Scion tC I was doing motor mounts and I had the coolant reservoir turned on it’s side so a little leaked out and it got near the low so I added a little autozone coolant it was yellow and it said it was universal and can be mixed with any others. There’s pink in mine now. Is what I did safe or should I flush it and refill?

Hey Scotty, I currently have a 10 ford escape & the ABS/traction control is coming on & killing the power like I'm driving on snow/ice when it's completely dry & when I hit the breaks it pulses the breaks as if I don't have traction, is this a bad sensor? I tried to put a cheap amazon obd2 scanner, however, it shows 0 error codes. Thank you

Hey scotty, got another question. my mom has a 2012 accord, and this happened in 2016. My brother filled it up to full with diesel and didnt want to tell our mom. the car ran entirely on diesel, and to this day the car is still running smoothly. In the long run how well this affect the engine? What damages did it caused? And he also did this to his 2014 camry. thanks again.

Hey Scotty. I have a 2014 honda crv and a neighbor needed to jump her car. I wanted to hook up the cables first and then turn on the donor car. She however turned on my car first, hooked up the positive and negative, and then the positive on her car. After her car started, she wanted to leave the cables on for a few minutes with both cars running. I'm being paranoid now wondering if doing that in that order will damage my alternator? thanks again.

Hi Scotty. I have 1985 Toyota Hilux 22re 4x4 with EFI Manual transmission. 502,000 km. The engine starts great, and idles well. But when I Rev it up, it starts to sputter and skip badly. And the higher I Rev it up, the worse it gets. And, when I turn on the heater, or the headlights, or the brakelights, anything to do with electricity, the motor shuts off. As soon as I turn on the headlights, the motor dies. Heater is the same result. Fuses are good. Battery and terminal connectors are good. Relays are good. Electric fuel pump is good. Any suggestions?

Hey Scotty. I’ve got a 2004 Ford Mustang 3.9L V6 with 124,000 miles on it. About three months ago, I had the engine replaced by some mechanics at a local Goodyear car care here in Chicago. Since I received the car back, I have had charging issues. The battery voltage would be at around 12.4 volts when the car was on, and would further drop down to 11 or even 10 volts, until it would die. I was told multiple times the batteries were bad, as well as the alternators. Scotty, I probably spend over $1,000 in alternators and batteries, and my issues wasn’t fixed. Took it back to the guys at goodyear, they claimed it was my alternator - they replaced it. I came back the next day, told them that my car was still dropping down to around 11 Volts. I’m not a mechanic, but I know quite a bit about my vehicle, and I’ve done a lot of work on it myself, and I know that that’s not normal. So I jacked the car up in my dads garage, checked the ground wire. It was corroded as hell and over three turns loose. I cleaned the wire, reconnected it, checked my charging with a multimeter, and it was FINALLY charging correctly. The point is, those basters never checked the ground wire under the engine after replacing the engine. Isn’t that basic? Isn’t that a given, that you would check to make sure your grounds are good after putting in a new engine? My car was charging fine until they replaced the engine. What do you do when they make a mistake like this? Keep making videos. They’re great! Thanks!

-Dom

Hello Scotty, I am looking to get my wife a newer car. She does a lot of city driving so a hybrid would be great for her. I know you saying getting an old used hybrid isn’t the best idea because of the battery packs wearing and being refurbished but only some of the cells. So how many years old would be best to avoid bad battery packs but avoid the cost of a brand new hybrid?

Hello Scotty,

First of all, love your videos and please don’t stop !!! Need your advice as I’m planning to buy a used Mazda CX-5 ( know you’re not a Mazda fan) - Details: 2016 Mazda touring / roughly 38 k miles in (vin: JM3KE4CY8G0845912). Carfax report says no issues on the vehicle. The dealership is asking $18 for the vehicle and with all taxes and fees included the price comes up to $20 K. Should I buy this car and at this price and if not, then what price should I be negotiating for ?

Thanks a lot..

Dushyanth.

Hi Scotty! I drive a 2005 Toyota Prius with 143k miles. Everything is perfect except when driving over 35 I hear a noise on the left side, the noise gets worse on the curvy roads. When pep boys checked the car they said that they have to remove and replace wheel bearing for one side in the front for $264 plus auto front hub assembly for $200. What’s your thoughts. Thanks in advance

Hey Scotty, thank you for everything that you do! I have a question.

I have a MB ML 350, with 64,000 miles on it. As of lately, when I drive at low speeds I hear a creaking noise from the front of the car. I have taken it to the dealership thinking that it may be the ball joints, however, they see nothing wrong with the suspension. Do you have any idea what this could be?

Hi Scotty, thanks for your informative and entertaining videos on YouTube ...! I have a Q for you, for my 2012 BMW 328i F30- its driven 110k miles, but i haven’t changed (automatic’s) transmission fluid. I researched online and asked 2 mechanics but got conflicting advice. Please tell me if in your experience should I change the transmission flood or not. I frequently drive on highway speeds but never aggressively.

Thanks for your time Scotty

Hey Scotty! I just bought a 2007 Ford Explorer Sport Trac XLT with the 4.0 V6 engine for $9,000, it has 130,000 miles, no lights on the dashboard, and it runs and shifts like a champ! Did I get a good deal? I didn't see the sense of spending $10,000 or over on a 2006 or newer F-150 or a Tacoma that has a decent amount of mileage. Thanks!

Hey Scotty, I've got Madza 6 2007. My car's instrumental cluster shows ABS and emergency brake light all the time(even when not using). And along with it, the speedometer doesn't works. When the mechanic tried using the computer through OBD, it says failed to make a connection with the vehicle. Is there any issue with the wire or the instrumental cluster? What things does it needs to be changed? Please help me with it.

Thank you,Kavan

Hey Scotty, I have a 2013 Toyota RAV4 xle with 60k miles. When I change the transmission fluid should I just drain and fill or should I replace the filter and clean the inside as well? If I go with the second option, how do I know how much to put back in since I'm taking the tank out?

Hi Scotty, I’m considering buying a 2005 Lincoln Town Car with 147k miles. Interior and exterior are in excellent condition, and the rear air suspension bags and compressor were just replaced. I’m aware that those engines are renown for their reliability with regular maintenance, but would it still hold up as a daily driver with that kind of mileage? Thanks!

Hi Scotty. I have a 2017 Honda Civic with the 1.5t engine. Car would not start for the second time yesterday, so I checked the battery with my tester and it showed 12 volts... I jump started it just fine and drove it to the dealer where I told them to replace the battery under warranty (I have less than 1000 miles left on it). They would not because the battery registered as “within spec” on their tester. I looked at it again and it seems that the battery is sweating out of the top of the caps. I told the dealer this and they still won’t replace. What do I do?!?? Thanks.
