Hi Scotty,

We have a Toyota Yaris Verso 2002 diesel D4D.

We had a problem with our accelerator pedal position sensor which caused the motor to go into limp mode.

A few year back a mechanic cleaned out the electrical connectors with contact spray and it worked OK for three years.

Now we have the problem again. Can I spray inside the potentiometer with contact spray or should I only clean the electric connector?

Toyota doesn't sell the potentiometer by itself so you have to buy the whole pedal assembly for about $700. If I find the potentiometer in a junkyard and replace it, does the computer need to be reset?

good electrical spray cleaner would not harm any electronic part. Just make sure it's real electrical spray cleaner. the computer would not need resetting if you tried a used one if it were good.
