Hi Scotty, this is probably not much of a mechanical question but more of a financial one. So I just bought a 2013 BMW 328i xDrive with 61000 mileage (roundup), carfax is here https://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory/p/Report.cfx?partner=EBZ_3&vin=WBA3B3C5XDF538494

The last owner seems to take care of his car and didnt abuse or anything bad based on the CarFax (10k mileage/year), and under the hood and everything seems to be clean. Now, the car comes with 3k/3months power train warranty but i dont think that would be enough because im planning to have the car for 3 years and I'm setting aside $1.5k/year for maintenance AND repair.

Now, the dealer offers me (the offer stands for a week from yesterday) to buy an extended 2 years warranty from a company called Penn Warranty for $2000 2 years/unlimited mileage, it covers everything in here https://imgur.com/a/T3JMyOH and i just have to pay $100 deductible

The problem is, when you google Penn Warranty, they have an extremely bad reputation for rejecting claims, rejecting shops, telling shops to use used parts, always find loopholes so they dont have to pay or pay just a little less. But, i dont know if that is actually true or not (abraham lincoln said dont believe everything you see on the internet)

My question is, should I buy the warranty from a company with bad rep or set aside $1.5k/year? Thanks Scotty have a good day!

Never buy any European car.

Setting aside $1,500/yr. is nowhere near what you'd need to service a BMW endless money pit. Think again. You're already getting ulcers now-- wait until you get slapped w/ a $3,500 repair bill for one problem. Get a V-6 Lexus.

Thanks for your reply sir, in my case, what would you recommend since the warranty offered by the dealer is not great

Don't buy the car or the funky warranty, I sold warranty at my dealership, I had to sue one on behalf of a customer. They refused a blown motor because of a radiator cap was not factory replacement. They lost! Your are correct they look to not pay especially the ones with bad reviews. Bmw stands for BREAK MY WALLET! Don't buy at dealer easy to clean under hood, look at reviews on that car.
