Hi Scotty, love your straight forward personality and information. I have a 2004 a4 quattro avant a coolant hose let go on the freeway and the engine was damaged beyond repair. So i found a mechanic to r&r the engine with another used engine. It ran fine its a good engine but 3 days later the transmission went into limp mode and it does verious different things: stuck in low gear and wont shift, and the PRNDS indicator usually highlites the shift mode your in but everything was highlighted. After turning off the engine and starting again 3 times it snapped out of it and shifted normal. Then put it in reverse and it failed again. Put it in D this time it was stuck in high gear and advanced slowly. And when i put it in D or R there's this clunk and jerk. I did a internet search and one guy went on ebay and puchased a TCM an it worked for him. And another site has a Transmission Control Module with Software Transfer Tool to reprogram a TCM. Of course the dealer wants crazy money for it. What do you think is the the best way to fix this. thank you Wayne.....

First, never buy an Audi, endless money pits. 3 days after that work it went wrong, odds are he screwed up something doing that work, see that ALL the time. NOW, only a pro with an audi dealer level scan tool is ever going to figure out that problem, so if you can find one, start there. But give the other guy a try to see if he can fix his screw up first. Good luck
