Hi Scotty,

I've got a 2007 Civic coupe with 150k miles. The Honda dealer has found three related mechanical issues:

  1. front struts are worn out
  2. rack and pinion fluid leakage
  3. power steering pump leakage

Do worn-out struts affect the performance of the rack and pinion or the pump? Does it make sense to replace just the rack and pinion but not the struts?

If I try to top up the power steering fluid regularly (genuine Honda brand), would it mitigate the effect of fluid leakage in the long run?

Thank you!

Oliver

Never take a out of warranty to a dealer. Unless leaks are severe let them be. All cars with high miles sweat oil a bit. Take it to independent small mechanic u trust get the real facts. Also try a.t.205 leak stop.
