Hi Scotty!
I have a1997 Lincoln Town Car Signature with about 112,000 miles on it. My car runs absolutely smooth and quiet most of the time. But there are times when I hear the engine knock and ping when I'm going up a steep hill or when I do a hard acceleration. I tried higher octane gas but it still do the same.

Any ideas?

I like to sort of "restomod" this car, like replacing old OEM parts with better and more improved ones. Besides the original plastic intake manifold that the Ford 4.6l modular engines has, were there other weak points that these Lincoln Town Car has that you know of? And if so, will I be able to get better and improved parts so I can make the car better?

I really like this car and I'm hoping that I could keep her for as long as I can.

In fact, I am thinking about having the engine completely rebuild, or just buy a engine that's already been rebuild.

worn timing chains often do that, see if a pro mechanic can retard your timing a little to stop that unless you plan on rebuilding the engine which costs a ton
