Hi scotty I have a 2007 chevy avalanche ltz 5.3L v8 i took my truck to a shop and had them look at it they tell me that i have no compression in cylinder #4 then went deeper and said i have burnt valves so he tells me that he has to take it apart send it to a machine shop and this and that sorry not a mechanic by anymeans but anyways he gave me a price of $2300 to do the job plus the $108 i owe for the diagnostic of my truck so im actually close to $2500 for the whole job now is this a good price for this type of job cuz i was doing research on the internet and found i can buy a head for my engine for a couple hundred bucks so what would you recommend i do and thanks in advance for your time and help

No i dont thats why its at the shop but if half is labor which i understand time aint free but thats like 1150 for labor and then 1150 just to send to a machine shop wouldnt it be cheaper just to get a new head for it and cut out the machine shop

Depends if you know how to do it yourself, half of that cost is labor
