Hi Scotty. I have a 2004 Mazda Tribute v6 with 198000ks. Now my problem is this, in the morning i will start it and it will jump to 2800 rpm but she drops back in a normal amount of time. The outside temp here will be about 10c. Now i will drive her around till it gets to normal operating temp and if i start it shortly after it will go to 3100 rpm, again dropping back in a reasonable time. Now a few weeks back i had to go to the cold country where the overnite temp was minus 6c. When i started her after sitting all nite she went to 17 or 1800 rpm, which is normal, then dropped back to a normal idle. This was a regular event for the 2 weeks i was there. Even when warmed up did not go to 3100, maybe 2400. Come back home to different temps and back to her old ways. I will add in Summer here it gets to 28c overnite and 38c in the middle of the day and the silly startup continues. Just wondering what a man of your expertise thinks of this. I am an Aussie btw. Thanks Scotty

Thanks for your response. Firstly i will say i have spent a week in hospital and only got out yesterday so memory is a little clouded. I have had both of those checked and cleaned a month ago with no difference made. I have also replaced the pvc valve and hoses. I am about to replace the idle temperature sensor, i think its called, in the next few days. With what i have read it says if this was a problem i would be getting a check engine light on the dash well that is not happening. I have also checked for vacuum leaks, unable to find any. I have also replaced the idle control unit as well. Other than this it is a terrific car. again thanks for your help and i will keep you posted.
