Hi Scotty been seeing your posts for a while. I have two vehicles that are projects i like them both but it always seems there's something to be done to them. but given they are 20 years old things are bound to be wrong and go wrong especially if fixed poorly previously.

I could ask a bunch of questions but I'll ask one that's a high priority right now. I just fixed my 1996 jeep grand Cherokee limited 4.0l so it would run again (ignition coil switch sensor was bad). had the part for a month or so but never could locate a good time where it was not hot outside to replace it.

now its replaced I am back to a prior problem. the vehicle at night (never seen it do it during the day) will randomly turn on the headlights. They'll stay on for 30 seconds to a minute or so then turn off. then maybe a few mins later half an hour later (I really don't know i've seen it happen within mins) it will do the same thing. other than disconnecting the battery all the time any idea what the cause of this might be?

thanks

ryan from orlando

the headlight switch was replaced. i was told its the auto delay going bad i hear clicking at times but i can't find the part which is why i wanted your thoughts. i don't think it did it before the switch but i could be wrong i don't know how long it was doing it after the switch was replaced before it was noticed.

check for wiring grounding faults, and also check the headlight relays for problems. If not that, often a bad headlight switch does that.
