Hi Scotty and fellow members! I have a question and looking for some guidance. I have a 2006 Accord EX-L 2.4 l4 K24A8 engine and BAYA tranny- car was made in Kentucky. It has 153,500k miles on it- the steering was tightening up on me , added fluid and ok..but still groans quite loudly when turn wheel, Suspension probs on both driver and passenger sides (squeaks as I drive like a very active bed mattress) Brake fluid never changed yet, new back rotors and tranny fluid service I did for first time at bout 139k miles (when I bought it) Timing chain new at 100k miles at dealership and all new tires less than 10k miles on them. Other than that, the car is solid, but I'm distrusting that the transmission will get me over 200k. I have the opportunity to buy a 1999 Lexus ES300 locally from a woman who never uses it, It sat since Jan - it is in like new condition and has 125k miles and she is willing to sell for $1500 and then will adjust if any issues with it. A. Would you sell the Honda even though it is an '06 for a 1999 Lexus ES300 6cy VVT-I engine. The 1999 has 28k miles less on it and I know those things can go many more miles than 125k. She has only really done oil changes every 3k miles with full synthetic. What are the issues to really look for when checking it/ especially if sitting 9mo without use. I know the gas will have to be drained it looks like. Any other considerations? I just wonder if it is a good buy if she is going to start at 1500 and come down from there. She's coming to mechanic with me on Sat and said she may cover whatever they find that is wrong. She seems to value her vehicles and you can tell it has been well cared for but what are the main culprits of problems on those? Also , if it hadn't been started in many months and needed a jump- is it common to be smoking a bit under the hood? Any guidance or help would be appreciated. Any thoughts on if I should just stick with my Honda or go with the ES300 would be appreciated. The lexus has the strong transmission reputation going for it and the Accord has the strong engine going for it but which one is more likely to last me for another 200k miles. Thanks! Tom

And dil I guess I want to try to get to 300k if possible. My goal is to have a car as long as possible with least amt of maintenance necessary. Does your advice still hold?
