Hi again Scotty, You told me ask here so further to my last posting, I've run cleaner thru the fuel system as suggested and re set the check engine light. As soon as I did the light the car ran like crap until I flogged the cleaner thru it, Dunno why resetting the check eng light would do that, but car now pulls great. Not retested emissions yet as want to cover all chances of affecting a cheap fix. So topped oil up, new air filter, plugs and thrashed it with cleaner in fuel. Can pcv mess me up? Pulled hose off and engine stops tho I've seen people run their engines with hose off, so am baffled, lol. Hose is half clogged with soot etc assume valve working tho as engine cuts when hose dis. To save you looking for last post the car is 2001 petrol corolla failed emissions test for uk mot. The limits are:Co 0.30, HC 200, Lambda 1.030 fast idle my readings were Co 0.58, HC 297, Lambda 1.047. Can/is changing PCV and cleaning hose make positive difference to emissions? Car gone thru a litre eng oil 1,800 miles and clearly if oil going thru PCV it can't be good as its shoved into mixture for combustion. Soot not completely dry but close. Just asking what else I can try, as station wont be happy with me in every dat messing with emissions. lol. I may get a couple of goes at it. A real pain with being skint. Better to spend a ton on ball j and strut after winging emissions, than having to find 4 ton again for a 12 month runner! Thanks Dan
yes, pray it's just that
Best to replace the PCV valve too.
