Hey Scotty i recently bought a 1993 honda accord lx from my cousin and the transmission D4 light stayed on constantly only drove in 3rd gear went to junk yard got another tran TCU unit plugged it in worked fine until i shut off car and restarted it the light came back on i unplugged box and replugged it in fixed the problem until i stoped and started again googled it ppl are saying to replace resistors and capicitors in the tcu they burn up or pop w/e you call it opened up the box and sure enuf burnt resistors replaced them but same thing the stickers don't match numbers wise i can not find out a straight answer about whether the TCU units are vehicle specific or tranny specific was just wondering if you can shed any light on my delima

ebay got fixed ones but that probably gonna be a hit or miss deal as far as it working so will just buy new

kinda figured new oem was gonna have to happen was tryin to get by with a cheap fix only paid 500 bucks for car new tcu cost 200-250 lol

no one fixes those things. Try to find a used unit that actually works, or bite the bullet and buy a brand new honda unit that would work, being new
