Hey Scotty! I have a tricky one for you. I have a 2002 Saab 9-3 SE that seems to have hit Armageddon and no one can diagnose it. It all started a few weeks ago when I started to hear a high pitched noise when I accelerate, similar to that of brakes when you're braking. Then one day when it became really hot outside (90-100 degrees) my car would no crank, no start. When I finally got it to start it started blowing white smoke immediately after for the first time. Since then it's been about 2 weeks and the smoke has gone from white to gray to now blue. It smells very strongly of burning gasoline. It is a thin kind of smoke, you cannot see it when your driving but often comes when it is idling in drive. I also have noticed it is tied to the AC, when I have the climate control off, it tends to rarely smoke. When I turn it on out goes the blue smoke!
I took it to two different mechanics. The first mechanic couldn't find any problems and just assumed it was possibly the turbo, the second mechanic found the starter issue was the safety neutral switch but could not figure out the smoke he did say it could not be the turbo because the part that I have doesn't smoke when it goes bad. I have not noticed any oil or coolant level changes, and no discoloration, froth or anything. Any ideas?!?
