Hey Scotty, I have a 2015 Nissan Altima. (Crap cars)! It currently has 26500 miles. And everytime we accelerate the cvt decides to jerk after driving for more than 15 minutes. Also every time we go over bumps or reverse out of our drive way we hear clunking noises from the struts. We have had so many issues, should we just get rid of it. My wife wants to get a new Lexus ES and we're thinking of getting this junker, what do you think? Also forgot to mention, after driving for more than 10 miles or so, when coming to stop light with the windows down, we hear a loud bang from under the car and the jerk at the same time. So many problems! Would love to hear your opinion, thanks a lot and stay safe man!

@Varantla, to get the best value, trade the car in to the Lexus dealer. And remember, for the ES, get an ES300h Hybrid. I've seen Prius's with 300,000 original miles on them. So if you want a car that's really reliable, get the Hybrid version of the ES. They can last 20+ years if you follow the required maintenance in your owner's manual.

Thanks guys, I currently have a Camry for my self and Avalon for my mother in law. My wife had the Altima which is horrible. The plan is to get rid of it asap but hopefully it can bring some money back when we sell it. Is a 2015, with 26k and it's a SL(top of the line,Nissan terms). Where do you think I can sell to get the best value. Thanks again!

Your wife is making a wise, smart choice. Yes, get rid of the Altima and buy the Lexus ES. Sure it's a luxury vehicle and more "refine", but unlike Nissan, Lexus is basically a dress up Camry and/or Avalon. That being said, it's a Toyota product meaning that you won't have a huge amount of problems. They can last a long time no problems. Either way, do the suggested maintenance that'll be indicated in the owners manual once you get the ES.

Get rid of the car. Nissans have horrid automatic transmissions, including their CVTs. I've heard of ordinary people like you say that the CVT transmission shakes the entire car. You're not alone. Other people have had the same problem and they didn't even have the car for a year and still bought it new. Anyway, your wife is smart and wants to get a Lexus. So get rid of that junker and buy that Lexus ES. Make sure it's an ES300h with the hybrid drivetrain. Same powertrain as the Camry and Avalon hybrids, which gets 36 MPG. And if you do the required services every 5,000 miles and change the oil and filter every 10,000, you'll have that top notch Toyota reliability that will last you 20+ years.
