Hey Scotty, I have a 1993 Celica with the 2 litre 3S-GE 115kW (156HP) with 82k mi on the clock and it is burning a quart (litre) of oil every 3100 mi (5000km) I am using Mobil 1 3000 Full Synthethic 5w30 oil (not the high mileage stuff, but the low emisions stuff) because we get very cold winthers (-25 deg C or -13 deg F if you wish) but summers are very hot ( up to 105 deg F), should I be worried about my oil consumption or is it normal for a 24 year-old car (but not a lot of miles)? It is now mainly used for 70mile trips to school each day on country roads going 50 mph. I also suspect a faulty anti drainback valve in my filter, if the car sits overnight, at startup the valvetrain rattles for a second or two and the oil light is on, as soon as the rattle disappears, the oil light goes out, I am concerned about engine wear in the long run. My mechanic put an aftermarket oil filter if that helps. Should I change the oil filter to the OEM Toyota one? Thanks

Well, it's a synthetic made from conventional I think

B. That is not Mobil 1. Mobil 1 says Mobil 1 on the bottle.

A. That's excellent oil consumption for any old car.

fubar, that oil IS mobil 1 but not the full synthetic

The oil you have pictured is conventional oil--not Mobil 1.

Thank you a lot

no, you want the cams to get oil fast, and thinner oil gets there faster

Thanks Scotty, so the oil isn´t too thin for the car?

try the toyota filter, but that useage is normal for a car that old. AND, being that old, I'd change the oil every 3 thousand miles regardless of oil makers claims.

I forgot to mention, I do oil changes every 6500 miles
