hey scotty, i bought a 2002 Chevrolet duramax. It didn't start and we made it start with kind of a lot of starting fluid and 2 new batteries. A freind drove it and i was following him like a couple feet behind and all of a sudden the duramax started leaking oil and left a couple feet of oil spilled on the road. We pulled over and hauled it on a trailer back home. we tried starting it again but it cranks and the batterie slowly starts draining and i already changed a fuel filter and recharged the batteries but it just wont get going. I was wondering if you could give me some type of idea of where to start looking and fixing it. i really want this truck to run please help me scotty!!! Thank you

Don't skip the obvious facts - somethings wrong here - you can't have full coolant and full engine oil if the engine is leaking these are the only two liquids in it - and ANY liquid that leaks MUST go down no exceptions to this - if you want to get her going try this method https://youtu.be/f5qfEayHx8c

okay ill do that but the engine dosent want to run, it sounds like it wants to but it dosent and i would really like to make the engine run so i can see where the leak is coming from

How low did the oil go? If you think thats the spot fill it up and run the engine and see if it leaks there

No check further forward like the oil filter gasket - take it off and change it

this is where i think all the oil is leaking and its where the trany meets with the engine.

i asked a friend mechanic and he said that it'll probably be the rear main seal and i got under the truck and i couldnt find a leak. Everything was covered with oil and i cleaned it and i still cant seem to find where the oil is leaking from.

First find out were the oil leaked from and go from there - it's an absolute must to find the leak first
