Hello Scotty, Toyota question from the UK.

I'm looking to buy a Toyota Avensis 1.8 petrol (gasoline) valvematic with CVT auto (no choices here regarding the type of auto we can have, it's CVT or manual transmission only).

Now, there are two cars: 2016 with 24,000 miles and the other a 2017 with 45,000 miles and both the same price.

Assuming both in good condition with full service history which would you buy?

Also, do you know much about this engine / gearbox? (I know they're not sold in the USA)

Thank you very much, I'm always watching your videos!

Mike

Our #1 question in this Forum: faulty automatic transmissions. Knowing that, given choice CVT vs. manual transmission, I'd choose manual. Make smart choices. So glad BOTH my Toyotas are 1/ manual 2/ Made in Japan.

Hi Jackofall

Agree with you there. I also have a Toyota Auris with CVT - very smooth and efficient (I get about 38mpg). The magazine reviewers hate them but I like it.
