Hello Scotty, I have a 2003 Mazda Protege5 with the 5 speed transmission. It currently has 73,000 miles on it. The other day as I was sitting as a stop light, I went to put it into 1st gear and started letting the clutch out but I realized it was stuck halfway up. I used my foot to bring the clutch back out and restarted. It didn’t happen again the rest of the way. I did my research and figured it may have air in the system. Also, my fluid was pretty dark. (Which is strange considering the mileage) So I did a complete flush, and bled all the brake lines and the clutch slave cylinder. I did this until there was no air pockets visible. However, while driving the car yesterday, I went to put it in reverse and the same thing is happening on reverse now only. works fine on every other gear. Clutch gets stuck and car starts idling poorly almost shutting off. And it is doing this consistently when I put it on reverse and start letting the clutch out. Could it be a faulty slave cylinder/and or master cylinder? Or could I be looking at other problems? Thanks.
