Hello Scotty! Can't get enough of your videos!! Please excuse the length of the email, I want to be thorough. My problem is with a great looking 2002 GMC 1/2 ton, Sierra, 5.3L V8, automatic, 2WD, std cab, flare side, with over 327,000 miles. It is always current with routine maintenance and as necessary, always repaired immediately. The problem is with the design flaw regarding the exhaust manifolds, specifically the left side. I bet you've already guessed it has to with the manifold bolts. A couple of the bolts have been replaced as they were broken at the manifold, and could be removed. The last bolt, closest to the firewall is broke, which exhaust can be heard until the engine warms up, or when the windows are closed ;).

I've seen after market repair brackets (photo below) that bolt to the head, which then have a bolt that tightens to "push" the manifold to the head. Do you have knowledge of these things working?? I really don't want to pull the head, and I can live with the noise if you think this fix is a waste of time.

Thank you for your time and knowledge, LVNJ

Thank you for your answer. Looks like I'm off to replace a gasket, and install a bracket. Ben

yes, they do work if you use a new gasket
