Hello, i have a 1993 ford ranger. 2.3 4 cyl 5 speed manual. Rebuilt transmission. Taking off in first gear it makes a whining noise and does it through out the gears. Is it normal or not normal?

@Carquestions The transmission cant take thicker transmission fluid cause the bearings can be burned up.

It is very easy to leave out a washer or small part when rebuiding a manual transmission - best advice is to take it back to the guy that rebuilt it and if it is very loud demand he fix it - also see if the fluid is correct - maybe a thicker tranny fluid was needed but he put in something thinner - this will cause it to be louder as well

@Carquestions The fluid will come out of the fill plug and it's the norm color. But the entire transmission is rebuilt.

Depends on the level of noise - you need to check the fluid level in the trans asap - maybe not filled correctly - all manuals whine a bit but nothing a passenger would comment on
