Hello i got a 1999 1.4 Rover 200 (214i) and it won't start it's cranking it but just won't start. Took it to the mechanic and it's been there for 3 weeks now and he said he checked everything and everything was in order, he said it's possible the ECU lost it's code and it needs to be decoded, now i'm waiting now for him to do it. The problem started like this. I was on the gas station then went home turned it off, that was on friday and it wasn't touched until monday morning, when i was going to work, it started a bit hard, but i just started driving to work, half way to work car started to lose power, it needed more rpm and suddenly it didn't have enough power even with 5000rpm in first gear, engine stalled, started it again but very hard, then it barely was able to start rolling, but i managed just to move it somewhere off the road, after work pulled it to home, dad charged the battery a bit and checked few stuff, after that i went to work with his car, when i came home he said he went to the town (7km one way) and almost back home with no problem, but the engine stalled like 1km from home, since then i was unable to start it.
yea. Everything looks fine and normal even on the computer when he run all the checks. Just hope it's the ecu and the problem get's resolved after decoding it.
I suppose it would be. But hopefully it's the ecu then and he gets you back on the road.
well he said it's producing normal fuel pressure and has normal spark. Well it would be really hard to find one like that.
If it's producing fuel pressure but not spark, need to find a mechanic that has experience with and can diagnose a Rover of that vintage year.
