my 98 silverado does the same but i think it's normal anyway I would not care about it because at least it's not overheating.

Yep, double check for trapped air first, seen that a lot. Then if the thermostat wasn't an AC Delco part, then put one of those in next, as I've seen many, many t-stat issues caused by cheapy ones.

double check the thermostat, but if not that, often just a worn out radiator, those plastic cheapies just wear out and don't flush well
