OliverM, Scotty is wrong and you don't need a made up engineer to get the facts. The active ingredient is MSH (synthetic magnesium silicon hydroxide) and has been proven to coat metal and form an ULTRA-LOW friction boundary film. Here's one of many studies that prove it, and this comes from a trusted source (U.S. Department of Energy Office of Scientific and Technical Information).

I am associated with TriboTEX and have seen the research and product unfold. Now with 16 months of sales and marketing experience, I have seen and witnessed spectacular results, and some not so much. I have read the peer reviewed journal articles and seen repaired parts from old engines. It is proven that MSH nanoparticles have superior lubrication properties that form a long lasting coating, using the heat and pressure of friction during use.
I have spoken with many, many satisfied and amazed users.

total nonsense, I took some of that stuff to a shell oil engineer and he said they actually tried that formula themselves and found it to be pretty much useless
