Dear Scotty,

I bought a Bmw 220d convertible januari this year. There are tons of creaks and rattles after driving the car for about 10 000 miles.

But a recent thing I'm starting to notice is whenever I brake, and the tachometer go's from let's say 40mph to 0mph .. it stutters.. now I don't really feel anything specific in the car. Only looks like the tachometer is missing some gears and just drops. Doesn't seem to do it in acceleration.

Any ideas what it could be ? I assume it's the tachometer itself but I'm not sure.

if the car stutters, and not just the tach dropping, odds are transmission is going out, typical on those
