Dear Friends and Supporters of On The Road With Scotty I’m about to move to an exciting new phase of expanding car help. I’m inviting a select few of supporters to join as volunteer hosts and contributors for this endeavor. I’m looking for friends passionate about their vehicles to ensure our community plan sets a great tone and culture. The tools are amazing, and for those chosen, provide an opportunity to be part of our global team. We believe it will be fulfilling - and fun! - and you’ll be among the first to see, use and test our new platform. I’m looking for hosts/contributors for the following rooms: Live Car Talks, Car Repair Videos, Cool Tools, Ask Scotty, and Cool Cars. If you want to apply, please send me a one-page summary of your passion and motivation to help in one or more of the above communities, and include your qualifications and perhaps a sample photo, video or written work, if you think it’s helpful. We’re looking for people who care deeply about their vehicles and want to help others. Looking forward to hearing from you! Scotty Kilmer

Hey Scotty! Huge fan! I'm interested in purchasing a 2001 Ford 250 7.3 4X4 Diesel with 177K, the transmission was rebuilt in 2018. Owner is asking $10K, I'd have it check by a mechanic before committing to anything but wanted your thoughts?

Dear Scotty,

As a avid subscriber to your Youtube channel, I ran into a problem with my Chevy Astro. After 60 MPH my check engine blinks. When I decrease the speed, it stops blinking and goes away. What can it be? I have replaced the Bank 1 and 2 sensors, distributer, Crankshaft positioning sensor, idle positioning sensor, coilpack, new spark plugs, cold temp sensor and mass airflow sensor. The check engine light throws a P0300 code. Last week I took it to the mechanics shop and after 3.5 hours, ASCME certified mechanics did not find anything. It starts fine, after driving after a bit and shutting of the engine, there is a rough idle. I don't know what to do. Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks,

George

Hey Scotty! Love the videos you post and they have help me a lot. Is it a better idea to get a 2018 Ford Escape S with the 2.5 L 4-cylinder instead of the SE model with the 1.5 L 4-cylinder turbo? How long do the turbos last on those cars? Thanks for your help! :)

Hey Scotty long time fan. I watched all your videos since the beginning. I had Celicas all my life but they are getting old and rusty here in Canada. I am looking for a new car. I hate cvt transmissions so I have to stay away from the normal cars like corollas. I am looking at a newer Lexus IS300 one is awd v6 and the other is a 4cylinder turbo rwd. I know you said not to buy a turbo or awd but they don’t make a rwd v6 anymore Which one would you choose ??

Scotty, I live in upstate NY, rust belt. I would like to but a Lexus like your wife has, but all of them out here look good on the outside but underneath you need a tetanus shot just to look under them. Can you suggest a way to fund a car out of the rust belt that is under 5000 dollars, without breaking the bank and getting had making trips out of a state to shop for cars?

Hi Scotty,

I've decided I want to get a panther platform car. I've found two for about the same price around 80k miles. One is a 2003 Lincoln Town Car and the other is a 2007 Mercury Grand Marquis. Would you recommend one over the other taking age into consideration?

There is no quick fix, just replace the hose thats leaking, it's not a big deal, a little messy, but that's what the best thing to do.

Scotty, I contend that a manual transmission is better and more reliable for off-road mountainous driving than an automatic; in fact, I believe it’s the best transmission to have for any demanding situation in terms of durability. What is your opinion as a mechanic?

Hey Scotty, I am having issues with a Ford Escape 2002 3.0, it will idle very low in rpm and sometimes feel like it's going to stop working, I changed spark plugs and recently fixed an issue with overheating, checked battery etc, I don't know if it's related but the lights on the cluster seem very dim sometimes and will sometimes show multiple gears as "selected" on the indicator (P and D or D and 1) thanks for the help

Hey Scotty! Love your videos. I recently have started getting into mechanics, and absolutely love cars. Your videos help learn about them a bunch. I have a question about a car I am working on. It is a 2013 Kia Forte, and I just got done changing the oil in it for the owner, but when the engine is running her car makes a loud squealing noise that sounds like it is coming from either the serpentine belt, or the belt tensioner. Any tips for an amateur on this one Scotty?

Hey Scotty, I have a 2003 Tacoma that needs the fuel filler neck replaced. I can’t find a shop that wants to do it because I bought the part myself. Do you think that changing it is something I could tackle at home? (I am a DIY person - change my oil/spark plugs at home). Thanks
