Car stuttering in idle/reverse and stuttering/shaking at higher speeds.

Hey Scotty love your channel! Hoping you might have some insight into my problem. I have a video for this now which is uploaded! Thanks!

Details -

Make:2008 Pontiac Grand Prix GT 3.8 V6

Mileage: 164,000 km

My car has an issue with the engine stuttering and I have no check engine lights or codes. It happens while idle, in reverse, and in

drive. While idle or just rolling in reverse, it sounds like the engine is skipping beats, almost like it's cutting out for a split second.

once I get driving it goes away until I hit higher speeds. Once I hit about 60km/h the engine will sound like it's powering down and

when I go to give it more gas, the whole car shakes and stutters until I take my foot off the gas and hit it again.

Another thing it has done twice now is, right after start (happened while the car was already warm) I would try to accelerate

and the engine would continuously stutter and barely accelerate. I would have to shut the car off for a minute and fire

it back up and it would drive fine.

So far I have:

  • Replaced all plugs

  • Cleaned the MAF sensor

  • Changed air filter

  • Oil/filter changed

I have also been waiting for a nice day here in Canada so I can clean the throttle body. I took a look inside and it is

completely coated in carbon and filthy. I don't think it's ever been cleaned but at the same time I don't think that's the issue.

Could this be something simple or something much more wallet smashing?

Thanks I'll have to get that set up. I know it can be a bunch of things but hopefully something as small as a dirty fuel filter!

there is a LOT more than engine codes. Get a pro like me to hook up their dealer level scan tool, take it for a 10 minute drive, then analyze live, mode 6 data, and historical data. There will be problems showing up in that data a pro can decipher
