Hello Scotty! I've been a subscriber for about 3 months now. I just bought a 2002 Trailblazer that was apparently kept in good shape with only 103k miles on it. I've noticed that when I have the mode selector on heat/ac all the way down to only vents, I can hear (which I'm assuming the door actuator), keeps making noise. If I turn the selector just one click up, the noise stops. Do I need another actuator or does it need to be reset somehow?

Being plagued with rough idle upon start up.Will rev to 2000 rpms then drops to below 1000rpm and starts reving. Does not occur all the time. Check engine light, 4x4 and VSC lights on. Code reading 02 sensor low voltage and random misfire on different cylinders. Will reset code and around 40 km code returns. Replaced both 02 sensors, new spark plugs, coil number 4 , 4 fuel injectors.. Cleaned throttle body, MAF, battery cable connectors. Smoke tested the intake to confirm no leaks after checking for compression, vacuum leaks, EVAP leaks into the intake, Fire and fuel. Tested engine coolant sensor. Problem continues...this has been going on for 6 months. Getting desperate. Rough idle on 2011 rav4 4x4 2.5L 4 cyl

Hello Scotty,

I own a 2016 VW Beetle. I live in Canada. This week, May 6, I brought my car to the VW dealership to swap the winter tires for the summer tires. During the day, the dealership called me up explaining that the tire swap was done and that they made a brake system inspection. Good news, my front brake pads have 8mm left and the rear brake pads have 9mm left. Then, The dealership rep suggested that I approve a $200 preventive brake maintenance procedure. I asked them about the procedure and they explained that they would take the brake system apart and they would clean all the components using sandblast and put everything back together afterwards. I told them that if the brake system is not broken; please don't fix it.

Since DieselGate, MonkeyGate and such, my trust in the Volkswagen company has been shattered. I do not trust them for anything and I think most everything they do is a money grab.

So, was I right to pass on the brake system maintenance procedure or was that procedure a legitimate thing to do once or twice a year?

Thanks,

-- Michel

Hey Scotty.....I'm working on a 2007 Chevy equinox v6 3.4 L AWD and it's been overheating lately. Before the current problems I've replaced the thermostat, flushed the entire coolant system. After the overheating issue I replaced the coolant temperature sensor and tested the fan relays to make sure they work. No leaks....coolant full. The mechanic did switch from low mileage coolant to high mileage......What else should I check to determine why it's overheating?

Scotty, I have a 2006 ford expedition limited 5.4L v8. I've changed the plugs and coils. It would shudder at idle and shut off. I changed the atc solenoids. The transmission is 2 years old. It cranks up, but wont hold idle speed and shuts off. No codes showing. What do I check next? Thanks.

I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GTS. There is no Cabin Air Filter in this one. My AC will not take in any freon. I was told I needed an AC Expansion Valve. I purchased it. Looking at videos on how to replace it in my vehicle says I have to take the dash off, drop the steering column in order to get to it. Is there an easier way?

Hi Scotty,

My airbag light is constantly flashing on my 2006 Toyota Sienna. I have generally been able to reset it by unplugging the yellow airbag connectors under my driver's and passenger side front seats, but it doesn't seem to remain off for long. I believe that the issue is with the passenger side - side airbag connector and/or wiring. There is a TSB for the problem, and Toyota makes a wiring repair kit for the issue. It looks like you have to rewire the 2 connectors and then splice the other end of the wires into the circuit. I can't find any videos on how to do it though. Can you help? Thanks.

Hi Scotty! What's the best way to keep my door seals lasting longer?

When it comes to the rubber door seals is there a difference between the CRC Siilicone Lubricant (https://www.amazon.com/CRC-05074-Heavy-Silicone-Lubricant/dp/B000BXKZUG) or Armor-all protectant?

What method(s) would you recommend?

Thanks Scotty!

I won a 2019 Mazda CX-3 on the Price is Right. It's smaller than I like, I'm thinking about trading it for a 2016-2019 Toyota Rav4 or Honda CR-V. Is that a good move, or not?

Scotty,

I have a 2015 Honda Accord with a V6. I recently got a transmission fluid 'drain & fill' at 50,000 miles. The dealership recommends that I get a flush at 100,000 miles. Their idea of a flush is drain & fill three times and charge me twice as much. Should I just get a drain & fill at 100,000 miles or go with their recommendation for a flush? Thanks Scotty!

Scotty... Kilmeerrr!!! LOVE the channel, thank you. I'm looking for a fun manual car to drive around when it's nice out. I heard you mention the Miata, but I think I want something with more power. What do you think about a 2016 - 2018 6th Gen Camaro with under 10k miles? If not that, what could you recommend? Thanks!

Hello Mr. Kilmer,

I'm a college student and daily drive a 2006 Ford Mustang with a V6 engine, 5 speed manual transmission, with 136,000 miles on it. I've been having an issue with the transmission, when I shift into third gear I have to do it slowly to avoid a grinding noise. Once the gear is engaged there is no noise or problem. After researching online I suspect it may be the gear synchro but don't know. Would it be wise to pay to repair the transmission, replace/upgrade it, or to sell the car? Would really appreciate your help and advice. Thank you sir and have a blessed day.

Regards, Andrew

Hi Scotty I bought a 2005 Mazda 6 wagon a year ago for 2600 ever since I’ve been having to repair something on the car. There’s a laundry list and I’m tired of putting money into it. I’ve put about 600 to 700 dollars into it. Is it time to sell or just junk it?

Hi Scotty, I added oil into combustion chamber to lubricate the cylinders because the engine was out for 9 months and at times under the rain in CA, the engine is 3MZ-FE It’s the same as on your Lexus, i sucked some oil out through the spark plug opening with some liquid pump and a small hose, I also turned it by hand couple times, is it safe to start? I added about 4~ 6 ounces per chamber

Hi Scotty? Can I ask you a few questions about our suv? Our air conditioner button/switch is not working anymore. In fact we have to tap under the dash board area to get it to turn on. Is that safe? A few months ago the car kept turning off when we tried to go up hills. we eventually got the car services and changed the coils. But from the beginning the car’s muffler has a lot of smoke and we have to keep putting oil in the vehicle every week. That’s not normal. Why is the oil burning so much? There is no visible oil or coolant leaks? Yesterday we put some royal purple 10-30 oil in the car and it drove good. It even didn’t start smoking at first. But this morning the car shut off then we turned it back on a big puff of smoke came out the muffler. Then the car started driving normal again?

Hi scotty, My mom wants to get a new car because her 2014 Subaru Outback has little to now power on the highway, which at this point is unsafe for the roads we drive where we live. What do you think about the new Honda Passports? Are they reliable? Do they have problems?

Hi Scotty,

I have a 2010 Scion XB with a manual transmission. Over time the clutch pedal has become very heavy.

About 4 years ago I had the clutch pedal adjusted so it can be at the same height as the brake pedal.

Now at 93000 miles the clutch is slipping slightly but the heavy pedal is becoming unbearable.

What could be the cause of the heavy clutch pedal?

You have a great youtube channel which I watch daily and love the comical jokes specially the ones that show the animals laughing in the background.

Hope to hear from you.

Hey Scotty. I dont know if you got this message already, but I wanted to ask you if a 2007-2008 Infiniti G35X (AWD) is a good idea to buy. I live in the New York Area, and ive found a few G35Xs with around 90-120k miles that im able to afford. The reason im considering the AWD is because it helps in the snow that we get up here. I've been wondering if their transmissions are ok, as the engines dont seem to have any major issues. I have checked owners fourms, online threads, and other people's comments on your videos and I have been told that the G35s are good, reliable cars. Also, in that car, if you use 87 or 89 octane (it says you have to use 91), does it damage the engine or fuel system or does the PCM or something tune down the engine to prevent damage?

Hi Scotty:

Around Langley, BC, Canada, I sometimes saw a few RHD cars imported from Japan on these roads, such as Nissan R34 Skylines and Mitsubishi Delicas. A few months ago, I saw a Korean-market Hyundai Galloper driving down the road in left-hand drive. I'm looking for a used car as a daily driver. What are your thoughts about the benefits and the risks of buying and importing a used car from Japan or Korea? Especially when it comes to finding replacement parts.

Hi Scotty , I have a 2014 Subaru Forester 2.5i with a 6 speed manual. The “engine oil level low” light is on but I checked the level and it’s normal with clean oil! What’s the deal? ( no check engine light or any other problems.. only 60k miles) Ps. My mom thinks your hilarious!

Scotty,

Love your videos and have been watching them for a few years now. 1st time question for me. I have a 99 GMC Sierra, 2WD, 5.3L. I have a whump-whump-whump sound coming from my driver front suspension area. I can feel the vibration from the interior floorboard. I’ve already replaced the shock, tie rod end, swapped out tires, and put on a new brake rotor and pads. The wheel hub sounds like no grinding when I spin it and there is no play when I tug on it. I can’t feel any play in the ball joints either. I’m stumped.

Hi Mr Kilmer,

This is James from Australia. Could you please help me? Thank you very much.

My 2002 Corolla will make strange noise and brake pedal will vibrate when I stop the car after a few seconds ( for example in a traffic light). However, when I change the gear to Neutral, all the problems ( the noise and vibration of brake pedal) disappear. The car otherwise, is driving normally and no issues.

The issue happened after the car hit a speed bump a bit hard and I felt something hit the car underneath.

I checked the underneath of the care and there is no new oil leaking. Could you please tell me what is going on?

Thank you very much. by the way, the corolla is auto transmission.
