Hi Scotty, first of all great videos on youtube and thanks for helping us work on our cars. Today I helped my dad by changing his a/c compressor , serpentine belt, all gasket in a/c system. expansion valve on a 2007 rav4 4 cylinder.I followed all the correct directions to flush the system and vacuum and charge. I charged the system with one of those cans that come with the guage and it had the ideal oil capacity and so on. I ended up charging and It was in the ideal pressure. The car was cooling and everything was great-------I made a huge mistake by referencing a guide, i found online and then i added more, i heard the compressor safety lock up i think. i checked the guage and the low was at 60 and the high was at 50 which is low....... I then recaptured the freon and pulled a vacuum for 1 hour thinking that would dis-activate the a/c switch that is located next to the high side.------I ended up charging the a/c again and this time like before, the freon doesn't flow through the system-----the little vial that you can look in usually is full of freon running through------ I tried to bypass the connector of the a/c switch that has 3 contacts and that doesn't do anything but once you plug it in to the a/c switch the fans turn on ,maybe the compressor too. but the gauges dont do anything. I hope you can help, i feel bad for my dad because hes 80 and i cant seem to help,i am letting him borrow my car in the mean time. Would replacing a new a/c switch help? it seems this car is smart on other cars you just bypass with 1 wire touching 2 leads and that is how you check for a bad a/c switch...Sorry for the long story but this requires detail to explain.
