2004 Lexus RX330 188K miles
I just watched one of your videos and you said not to use fuel additives. I recently checked my OBDII scanner because my car seemed to have a strange idle and I saw the Long Term Fuel trim was getting to positive double digits. I added a fuel injector cleaner to a tank of gas and it seemed to work right away. I'm on a half a tank and the Long Term Fuel trim is staying between 2 and 4 now.
My question is what is considered a fuel additive? Is fuel injector cleaner? Should I be doing something else for my Long Term Fuel Trim when it gets into double digits? I read if it gets to +15 it will trip the check engine light.
Also, I got a blue driver scanner. How can I make the best use of it? I followed one of your recent videos when your customer bought a used car and you were explaining the fuel trim values on your scanner. I figured I would check the idle with the scanner live data. That is why I used the fuel injector cleaner.
Thanks for all of your help. I appreciate it.
