I have a 2000 Accord EX 4-cyl with a check engine light on. Code reads P1486, a Thermostat performance problem.
The thermostat in there is pretty new, hasn't even been in the car for a year, but it is aftermarket (Duralast).
The confusing part is when I researched this code, and when I got the code read-out from Autozone, the proposed solution was to change the ECM, not the thermostat. Any reason why that is? And if I did need to change the ECM, would a reman be bad idea? The OE part is like $800-$1000 and this car is getting old, so I'm trying to decide whether it's worth it.
You're the man!
