MV Augusta F4

When most people say "Italian bikes," Ducati immediately comes to mind. But MV Augusta makes a bike that is just as beautiful, maybe more finicky, and freakin' fast.

Who doesn't love anything Italian? Bikes, cars, movies...women. And did we say bikes? Of course, when most people say "Italian bikes," Ducati immediately comes to mind. But MV Augusta makes a bike that is just as beautiful, maybe more finicky, and freakin' fast.

We love the look of the F4. It's like the difference between owning a Ferrari and a Lamborghini - the high end Ducati Panigale not included. This was the motorcycle that helped launch the resurrection of MV Augusta in 1998. And it has Duc roots -- the original F4 was created by famed motorcycle designer Massimo Tamburini after his work on the Ducati 916.

With a max speed of around 190 mph and a claimed 201 b.h.p (at 13,600 rpm), it may not be the fastest production bike out there, but you'll look good on it even when it's standing still. The 2014 base version (ABS standard) was just under $19.5k; add an extra $7k for the race ready (RR) version.

Seems like the right bike for one of our favorite routes off the Blue Ridge Parkway!
